Jute wall hanging, \'Hail to Deer\'

The millenary cave paintings in the state of Baja California Sur inspire the artwork of Mexico\'s Rommy. Painting with acrylics, Rommy replicates a scene found in caves of the San Fernando Sierra, as well as the San Nicholas River. It portrays two men paying tribute to a deer, a widely revered creature throughout Mexico. Painted on primed jute, the composition hangs from leather straps. When the painting is finished, Rommy treats the jute to a mixture of tar and wax to give it an aged, rustic finish.
